1. Our commitment
We want the environmental impact of our work to be as low as possible. As a small company that works online first, our footprint is small, and we can change how we work quickly when we find a better option.
2. Where our emissions come from
We have no offices, company vehicles or premises, so we have almost no direct emissions. Our emissions come from:
- energy used when working from home
- travel for client work and to meet each other
- the digital services, AI tools and equipment we use.
3. How we deliver work
We design our work to be online first. Workshops, facilitation, research and reporting usually happen remotely. Sometimes we need to meet in person, when a client asks or the work clearly benefits. Then we travel by train rather than car or plane wherever we can, and plan journeys to cut the total distance.
4. Everyday choices
- We choose digital services from providers with clear environmental commitments or renewable energy, where we can.
- We keep equipment in use for as long as possible, repair it rather than replace it, and consider refurbished equipment.
- We use digital documents rather than paper.
- We use AI tools where they add real value, not by default, as set out in our AI use policy.
- When two options are otherwise similar, such as venues, suppliers or tools, we choose the one with the lower environmental impact.
5. Checking our progress
Each year we review this policy and make a simple estimate of our emissions, based mainly on travel. If a client asks, we estimate the travel emissions for their project, based on distance and how we travelled.
6. Reviewing this policy
We review this policy every year, and sooner if the way we work changes.
